CHAVEZ MEMORIAL
1999
Paul Chavez, son of Cesar Chavez contacted me to design a memorial
garden, gathering space, and commemorative garden for the burial
place of this father and his two German Shepherds. The enclosure
wall has a statue of the Virgin Guadalupe. The upper terrace
has an arbor planted with California Grapes. The lower stone
patio has a double bosque of Olive trees each with a small central
fountain. A commemorative Cesar Chavez Rose was introduced by
Jackson Perkins in 1999 and is used in mass plantings. |
