The
early 1980’s saw the demolition of a small shopping district
consisting of small stores with facades dating from the turn
of the last century. This made way for an enclosed three block
shopping mall along Colorado Boulevard and closed off the North
South axis between the Myron Hunt designed library and the historic
Civic Center. With the mall in decline the original developer
decided to upgrade the property. The architectural firm of Ehrendrantz,
Ekstut, and Kuhn along with our firm Melendrez and Babalas to
‘take the lid’ off – open the mall to the
sky and incorporate a series of outdoor spaces designed in the
Pasadena Style of Gardens and Plazas. |
